The active use of selection techniques in the cultivation of horticultural crops noticeably improves the main indicators of the cultivated plant, including its resistance to external climatic factors. It was in this way that it was possible to obtain a variety of rose bushes known in Europe, called the Brothers Grimm rose.

History

This stem of garden culture was bred by breeders from Germany back in 2002, for the first time it "appeared in public" in a famous series called "Fairy Roses". In German, this variety is referred to as the gebruder grimm rose, which means "the flower of the brothers Grimm".

An amazingly attractive and delicate plant has become over time a real gem in the world of ornamental horticultural crops. Abundant and long flowering, as well as a rather subtle and delicate aroma of this variety, immediately attracted the attention of Russian amateur gardeners.

Rose Brothers Grimm

The resistance of the Gebruder Grimm rose plant to most climatic factors allows it to be grown in any regions of Russia. It perfectly tolerates elevated temperatures, but only under the condition of constant moisture (its deficiency affects the color quality).

This variety can be used both in the organization of single plantings, and in the design of flower ensembles within the boundaries of city flower beds or on personal garden plots. To get acquainted with this wonderful plant, you will need to provide a full description of it, given in the next section.

Description and characteristics

As if justifying the sonorous name given to it, this flower differs from others in the following characteristics:

  • The height of the rose bush, taking into account the blossoming inflorescences, reaches 90 cm.
  • The rose plant Gebrüder Grimm tolerates frost and heat well throughout the entire temperature range.
  • Its flower has a very delicate and unobtrusive scent.
  • The inflorescences are quite lush, the petals have wavy edges, which only enhance the terry effect.

Colors can vary from reddish-yellowish at the very beginning of flowering to crimson, usually observed at the end of the season.

Note! The flowering of the bush lasts almost all summer, without a noticeable interruption; at the same time, from the outside it may seem that it is constantly showered with lush flowers.

The flowering variety in question can produce one or 3-5 buds on one stem, which are collected in wonderful inflorescences. They look very thick and strong, not beaten by rain or hail. The leaves of this type of roses are dark green, in appearance they are glossy and slightly shiny, densely showering the branches of the bush.

Agrotechnics

Landing

When looking for a specific place where you plan to plant the Brothers Grimm Floribunda rose, it is recommended to select the side of the garden plot that is illuminated by the sun for most of the day. It is undesirable to plant these flowers in the lowlands, where dampness and coolness can stay for a long time.

Immediately before planting a shrub, it is necessary to prepare in advance a special earthen substrate for it (humus), which is characterized by increased permeability to moisture and air. The landing process itself is as follows:

  • First of all, a hole is prepared, which is pulled out to a depth of about 60 cm.
  • Then a drainage is placed in it, consisting of fine gravel (its thickness should be at least 10 cm).
  • Organic additives (ordinary compost or rotted manure) are placed on top of the drainage layer.
  • At the final stage of excavation, the hole is filled with previously discarded soil.

Important! When planting brother grimm seedlings, you should pay attention to the fact that the grafting site with shoots is located just below the ground level (a couple of centimeters).

In the process of excavation, it will also be necessary to control the distance between them, set so that no more than 4 young bushes are located on a square meter of area.

Upon their completion, the pink seedling is spilled with a bucket of not very cool water and immediately after that it is mulched with the use of peat additives.

Bush care

Like other garden plants, rose bushes require constant maintenance, which usually boils down to regular watering, nutritional supplementation and preventive treatment.

Bushes require constant care

In the spring, nitrogenous fertilizers are first applied under them, after which (even before the beginning of the flowering period), organic fertilizing is carried out. Closer to autumn, the plant will need combined mineral mixtures, which are often used as a well-known additive "Kemira".

Despite the declared resistance of the floribunda variety to various diseases, rose bushes are subject to mandatory preventive treatment. For these purposes, such well-known drugs as "Fufanon" or "Confidor" can be used.

Additional Information! Among the known garden pests, this culture is not afraid of even aphids, which usually bother most novice gardeners.

The latter is explained by the fact that rosebuds harden rather quickly after blooming (this reliably protects them from flower parasites).

Advantages and disadvantages

The indisputable advantages of the variety include its incomparable biological vitality and resistance to cold and heat in the entire temperature range. In addition, this type of rose is well protected from the effects of harmful insects, since it is able to cope with them on its own.

To the relative disadvantages of plants of this class, it is customary to attribute the excessive splendor of the rose bush (its large volume). Some users also note that the rose of this variety, although it blooms very luxuriantly, crumbles too quickly.

In the final part of the review, it should be noted that the variety rose Gebruder Grimm compares favorably with other plants for its resistance and unique flowering with a record number of rose buds. These properties attract most amateur gardeners who enjoy breeding them.
