Potato variety Evolution was bred as a result of selection by the Dutch company "Agrico U.A." in 2011, on the grounds near the city of Emmerlord (Netherlands). A year later, she submitted an application for admission to the cultivation of culture in our country. The potato was included in the State Register of the Russian Federation in 2015. For the fourth year now, this table variety has been grown by domestic agronomists. Despite its novelty, he has already managed to win the trust of many summer residents and farmers.

Characteristics of Evolution potatoes

Under favorable weather conditions, the bushy part is high (up to 70 cm), the stems themselves are erect, the bush is moderately branched, with large bright green leaves. The flower corollas are violet, the color intensity is strong, the corolla is large.

Bright anthocyanin color of the corolla

On a note. The variety is mid-season, frost-resistant. Optimal for growing in such regions of Russia as Volgo-Vyatka, Ural, North-West, Moscow, Moscow region.

The tubers of the plant have an oval oblong shape, their color is saturated, brownish-red. The color of the flesh is yellowish on the cut. The potato eye is shallow, which greatly facilitates the peeling process. The taste is excellent, for lovers of such a dish as fried potatoes this is just a godsend.

The mass of one tuber averages 80-150 grams, they are even, have an attractive presentation. Starch concentration: varietal potatoes contain on average 15-18% starchy substances. This is considered a rather low indicator, which is at the same time an advantage - such a product is more appreciated by culinary experts.

Cut pulp

The yield is up to 500-600 c / ha, with proper fertilization, as well as the timely destruction of weeds that prevent the normal growth of the plant. This parameter also depends on how carefully on the land plot the prevention of the appearance of such plant diseases as late blight, scab is carried out; be sure to timely destroy the Colorado potato beetle.

Note! The varietal feature is the presence of a large number of tubers: up to 20 large potatoes can be obtained from one bush, and sometimes up to 25. The Evolution potato variety gives the highest yield subject to planting density: the distance between the centers of the holes should be approximately 35 × 50 cm.

Growing requirements

Potatoes are relatively unpretentious, not capricious in terms of soil and temperature conditions, and are capable of bearing fruit in various climatic zones. The peculiarity of this plant is the preference for sandy or sandy loam soil. On poorly loose chernozem and heavy loamy soils, its yield is somewhat lower.

The vegetative period is rather short - 60-75 days. It is not necessary to germinate the seeds, before planting the seed, it is imperative to apply a sufficient amount of universal fertilizer. The planting depth is no more than 6 cm. The Evolution potato variety has a powerful developed above-ground part (tops), notable for its intense flowering and early tuber formation.

The optimum air temperature during the growing season is 12-26 ° C. In dry weather, during periods of long absence of rain, it is advisable to water the plantings - Evolution potatoes are hygrophilous.

Important! Planting should be carried out when the temperature of the soil layer at a depth of 15 cm reaches 8-10 ° C. In central Russia, as a rule, this period falls on the middle or end of May.

It is advisable to fertilize the soil before planting seeds. For this, you can buy a complex fertilizer. To protect the plantings from the Colorado potato beetle, it will not be superfluous to add wood ash to the fertilizer. If you use this type of additive, the grown crop needs much less pollination with pesticides. Holes or trenches are best positioned in rows running in a north-south direction. So the culture will receive the optimal amount of light, the aboveground part of the bush will be well developed.

Advantages and disadvantages of the variety

Pros:

  • Resistant to wrinkled mosaic, potato crayfish and nematode;
  • The keeping quality of the harvested crop reaches 95-97%;
  • The pulp does not boil too much during cooking.

Minuses:

  • Moisture-loving plants are sensitive to drought, and therefore may require additional watering;
  • The Evolution variety is not highly resistant to late blight.

For more than three hundred years, potatoes have been considered "the second bread" in Russia: no family can do without this product in their diet. Therefore, it is so important to make the right choice so that the efforts of planting, cultivating and harvesting do not go to waste. Here, the Evolution potato variety has a number of advantages over its counterparts: it is high-yielding, and its even large tubers have excellent taste.
