Features of agricultural technology

The variety is considered not too whimsical, but there are nuances when planting and growing. Experienced gardeners recommend considering the following features:

  • even if the variety is frost-resistant, you should choose the southern section of the garden, where there is good lighting and there are no strong winds;
  • do not plant cherries in places where groundwater is high or where water stagnates in the spring;
  • the soil should be light sandy loam or loamy, it is dug up and lime in advance. Then, 7 days after liming, organic fertilizers are applied there;
  • the best time for planting is mid-April;
  • the plant does not tolerate strong thickening, therefore, the branches must be shortened every season;
  • does not need frequent watering, it is enough 2 times per season - at the beginning and during the formation of fruits.

Important! Large black, being not a self-fertile variety, that is, not capable of independent pollination, gets along well in the neighborhood with such pollinating varieties as Zhukovskaya, Rossoshanskaya black and some others.

Features of harvesting

The best harvest can be expected 3.5 years after planting the tree, towards the end of July. You need to harvest the fruits 3-4 days before their final ripening. The best harvesting method is to cut the cherries with brushes, closer to where the stalk is attached. It is recommended to harvest healthy fruits separately from deformed ones. If the berry was picked without a stalk, you should not let it sit, otherwise it will soon become unusable. It is recommended to pick cherries in the morning.
